I have looked throught the archive and am not getting any real
specific help in there. Likewise Googled.
SO... Here's a non-critical topic for Monday:
I have Sunfire v880 which has the single 'A/B' "big-mouth" serial
port. I need to attach an APC SmartUPS via this serial port.
1. Do I need to do some special configuration or magic or voodoo, or
can I just plug in the "offical" APC Serial Cable for SmartUPS and
go?
APC currently is pushing their "PowerChute Business Edition v7.0.1 for
Solaris 8.0/9.0" monitoring software. (I have used their old
PowerChute Plus on other unixy systems -- AIX, Linux -- with great
results.)
2. Is this "PowerChute Business Edition..." the APC SmartUPS
monitor/controller of choice by SysAdmins on Solaris9?
Or is the trend toward 'nut'? Or what?
Any suggestions and/or cookbook ideas for getting my v880 (and 280r)
units properly setup with the UPS will be very much appreciated.
I will summarize.
My thanks in advance to all of you who are not "out of the office".
