After some issues with my last V100, Sun sent me a brand new one to replace
it. I tried upgrading the Solaris 8 to 9, but it was unable to mount the
second installation disk. I checked the disk, and sure enough, there was a
big ole scratch, and I figured it was just a bad disk and set it aside for
the time being.
After letting it gather dust on my desk for a few months, I decided to
install Gentoo Linux on it from a LiveCD. Uh oh-same problem. Probe-ide
all tells me that there's neither a hard drive for a cdrom present, but
test-all passes the ide test. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might
be able to get this paperweight working again?
Here's the result of probe-ide-all and test-all, along with a few boot
attempts:
