steps to add new PCI-SCSI card and disk pack

I am relatively new to system admin (less than a year).

We have ordered a PCI-SCSI card and disk pack for our SUNBlade 100 system
with Solaris 8 operating system, and I will need to install them when they
arrive.

There are three slots on the riser board for PCI cards. Recently, an
ethernet card was added into the third slot and the system was reconfigured
to make the network connection via this ethernet card instead of by the
existing token ring card which was not removed and is taking up the second
slot. In the first slot is a dual-channel PCI-SCSI card that was specially
installed when the machine was new (attached to this card are a disk pack
and a tape drive).

I believe what I need to do is to remove the token ring card in slot two,
since it is not being used. Anyway, it is currently causing error messages
when the machine is powered off and on again (because the system expects to
find some connection to the network?).

Questions:

1. Can I just remove the token ring card, since it is not being used?

2. Are there any parameter files that I will need to changed after removing
the token ring card?

3. Will I need to power the sytem on and off again with a boot -r before
continuing with the installation of the PCI-SCSI card in the slot where the
token ring card used to be?

4. After I insert the PCI-SCSI card into the vacant slot, will I need to
power the sytem on and off again with a boot -r before continuing with the
installation of the disk pack?

I think I can handle the installation of the disk pack after getting the new
PCI-SCSI card installed, but would very much appreciate receiving any
additional details and cautions that you think might be useful in the whole
process of adding a PCI-SCSI card and disk pack.

Thanks in advance.
