Thanks to those who replied with:
In the rules file, put a "-" in the "begin" and
"profile" columns for that host.

This partially works. Since the profile portion is
skipped, the disk is not mounted on /a. For testing
purposes, I have manually mounted the directories on
/a. This works very well.

I have scripted a number functions into the finish
script that apply hardening procedures, customizations
(like changing the root shell to tcsh and creating
a/.tchsrc file), install tcp_wrappers and ssh, etc. I
also copy a startup script to /etc/rc3.d that runs
after the system is rebooted. This installs a number
of products silently and performs some more
customizations that are better done on a normal boot.
It then disables itself for being run again :).
