Sunmanagers,

Apologies for the delayed summary. A spell of 40 degree celsius weather and
some power restrictions delayed the insallation of the replacement power
supply.

The Power Supply has been replaced (under warranty) and we have had 72 hours
of PS1 error free bliss.

Thank-you to all who responded and in particular

joe_fletcher
Thomas Payerle
Charles E. Rawls
Jay Lessert
Andrew Hay

whose diagnosis was spot-on. If any of you guys ever visit Perth, the 1st
"shout" is on me. I also appreciated the additional suggestions with regards
to modicications to the vfstab file from joe fletcher and particularly Jay
Lessert

Jay Lessert
" When the system does crash fsck -F ufs /dev/rdsk/c1t0/d0/s0 is required to
 correct the / filesystem.

If the box is running Solaris 8 or Solaris 9, add the 'logging' option
to all ufs lines in /etc/vfstab, like this:

#device device mount FS fsck mount mount
#to mount to fsck point type pass at boot options
#
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 / ufs 1 no logging
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s3 /local ufs 1 yes logging
"
