Xvfb

All,

I've logged a support call with Sun to see if Xvfb (X Virtual Frame Buffer)
is supported in Solaris 8.

Their official response was :-

"I have done some digging around and found that Sun does not support Virtual

Frame Buffering in Solaris 8 or previous versions. There is no way of
getting
this functionality with standard Sun SW AFAIK, but there's a freeware tool
called VNC which does a similar job - see
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ "

I'm using Xvfb on my 3 other Unix nodes (HP-UX, AIX & TU64) without any
issues. Does anyone know if Xvfb does actually work on Solaris ? I get the
impression Sun aren't 100% sure and are saying this to cover their backs.
I'd rather avoid using VNC on one node and Xvfb on the others.

Any info on Xvfb for Solaris would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Mike.
