High rate of input errors on GE interface

I did not see any replies to this post from April
of 2003. I've also recently started seeing these
on one of our E6500 servers (10 x 400MHz cpu, 8GB
mem), and one GigaBit NIC is configured. The system has a
second GigaBit NIC that's not configured.
When network traffic is light, hardly any Ierrs appear,
but when traffic starts averaging above 20,000 packets per
second the Ierrs start appearing -- as many as 33 per second.
The lan group has put a sniffer on the network and have found
nothing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Hello Everyone,

I'm running Solaris 8 on E3500 (8 x 400MHz cpu, 4GB
mem, two gigabit NICs).
The system is receiving data from about 20 external
sources 0.5-1.5 MByte/s each (12-20 MByte/s total)
using one gigabit interface, and then sending out
processed data using another gigabit interface.

The problem:
input interface is having very high rate of input
errors

# netstat -I ge0 1
gives 10 errors/s (mean value), while there is no
errors on the switch side (no negotiation problems) nor on output
interface (almoust the same data rate
but with one stream only).

It doesn't depend from NICs nor cables.
The system is not overloaded: load average is about
4.4

Is it a know problem of ge driver?

can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

thanks,
Vladimir.
