18Gb Cheetah compatibility

(First posted to comp.sys.sun.hardware with no responses...)

I have a shelf-full of 18Gb Seagate Cheetahs (some Sun-labeled, some
not) that I want to use to standardize boot disks. I intend to replace
my 9Gb drives, occasional Fujitsu drives, etc. such that if I lose one
of the pair (these will all be mirrored with Solaris Volume Manager) I
can just grab another Cheetah from the bin, prvtoc, remirror and go.

However, I'm finding that even though all these drives are designated
"ST318203LC", some have 9770 cylinders, some have 7506 cylinders and one
even has 9776 cylinders.

Am I asking for trouble trying to mix-and-match these drives? Or, will
SVM "do the right thing" with, say, a 9770 cylinder disk and a 7506
cylinder pair? Any gotchas? Thanks, and I'll summarize.
