Recommended patches broke ssh

Latest recommended and security patches installed yesterday afternoon.

3 servers now cannot be logged into by ssh or sftp. All others are ok.

I rebooted one of the 3, assuming that might be the issue. Still broken.

I checked versions of ssh and ssl on all servers (mostly 3.4p1 and
0.9.6g). Unfortunately, the same versions on servers on which they are
still working and on servers on which they are broken.

I'm sure there's some patch that did something that broke ssh and/or
ssl, but I'm not sure what the simplest and quickest way of fixing it is.

TIA for any advice.
