[Q] Way to test disks performance?

We would like test disks performance on our SUN Ultra SPARC servers (Solaris
8). The disks include local disks and SAN disks. Normally we use following
commands to do it:

mkfile 2g test
iostat xtcn 10 <== to check XXMB/sec

Does there have better way ot utility can do it?
