Help understaing startup scripts.

Hi Friends,
Thanks for your replies...

I have found couple of things.....

My logiID 'aaa' belongs to a netGroup 'xxx'
I can see an entry for this netGroup as "+@xxx:x::::/dir1/xxx:/bin/csh" in
/etc/password
I realised all settings coming from /dir1/xxx/.login which is changing my home
path from '/dir2/aaa' to '/dir1/xxx' and defining a lot other setting.

Can I safely conclude that?....

1. If a loginID belongs to a netGroup and netGroup has got a home directory
then scripts .login .profile .cshrc will be executed from netGroup's
homeDirectory after your personal .login .profile and .cshrc
If yes, this implies we can set scripts to run at netGroup level too...??

2. Can a netGroupID be defined to work as a UnixUserId also? because in this
case it has home directory also.

Sorry for these basic questions...not good in Unix..:-(

Thanks,
Sanjay

Greetings Gurus,

I have a question.....

When I login to one of the UnixBoxes in the network, all my settings get
changed e.g home, aliases, and prompt etc.
This happens only in one machine not with all others.
This has started happening only after my loginID was included in new Unix
Group and Netgroup.
Does that mean there are scripts which run at unix group or Netgroup level?
How can I see which scripts are responsible for these setting changes?

Thanks,
Sanjay
