how can you calculate savecore filesystem space needed in case of a crash

i would like to monitor my savecore filesystem for available space to
handle a savecore after a system crash.
is there a way to calculate how large the vmcore file would be if the
system crashed?
I could do it with savecore -L but I don't want it to actually dump
anything to make the calculation.
