UPDATE: tape/scsi error - <device>: write protected or reserved.

G'day All.

In addition to my previous mail, I just found an install manual for the
HP drive, which had an example st.conf entry in it. My syntax was
wrong. I'm ashamed... Even so, the work-around doesn't work. After
correcting the st.conf, and another reboot (with -r ) the drive locks
up. Now, however, reserving and releasing produces the expected
'inappropriate ioctl' message:

...
# mt erase
# mt offline
# mt erase
/dev/rmt/0n: no tape loaded or drive offline
...
(tape re-entered into the drive)
...
# mt reserve
mt: Inappropriate ioctl for device
# mt release
mt: Inappropriate ioctl for device
# mt erase
/dev/rmt/0n: write protected or reserved.
#
...

Again: the tape is NOT write-protected. It is the very same that
initially did work (after a boot -r and tapedrive switched off).

Any suggestions?
