Thanks too:

Jon Hudson
Michael Lehmann
Casper Dik
Petri Kallberg
Debbie Tropiano
Jim Seymour
Russell Page

(Ive decided to leave out the email addresses in summaries)

a fews points were made:
1: names that start with SUNWC are themselves a a cluster of packages. From
this I should be able to work out exactly what a developer install puts on
(with doing one and then subtracting from the minimal).
2: you can boot from CDrom and do an upgrade install to developer (I didnt
want this I want to know exactly what Im putting on the box)
3: the following set of packages should get me started.

system SUNWsprot Solaris Bundled tools
system SUNWhea SunOS Header Files
system SUNWtoo Programming Tools
system SUNWtoox Programming Tools (64-bit)
system SUNWarc Archive Libraries
system SUNWarcx Archive Libraries (64-bit)
system SUNWbtool CCS tools bundled with SunOS

This is what Ill do. I really need a "minimal" development box.

I forgot to mention in the original post that gcc is the intended compiler.
Ill be putting on other GNU tools either by compiling or from sunfreeware
(depending on what customisations we want).

Thanks all

BB
