Print Server on Solaris 8

Hello All,

I'm trying to print to a pretty uncommon printer (Nashuatec D422) from each
SUN workstation on a group of networked SUN's (mostly Ultra's) running
Solaris 8. Software is available from the vendor's web-site for installation
on each workstation, allowing each machine to connect directly to the
printer. This works fine for text files using 'lp -d<printer name>'. However
printing from applications such as Acrobat and Cadence (electronics CAD
application) prints pages of junk. I have been told that this printer is
indeed a Postscript printer but does this problem suggest otherwise? Or,
more likely, is it just that I need to set up a specific workstation as a
print server? If this is the case, I would appreciate a pointer to some
information on how to do this. There is various information on the web which
suggests an lpadmin - accept - enable sequence for setting up a print server
but invariably the information seems to be incomplete e.g. there is no way
of telling the print server the IP address of the printer and the value of
some of the fields of the lpadmin command is unclear. I have searched the
FAQ, archives and web for a concise explanation of how to resolve this
problem but without success. Any information on a possible resolution would
be much appreciated...

Thanks,
John Kelly.
