performance monitoring

Hi gurus,
I use sar and sarcheck to monitor my sun servers.
One server runs sybase and peoplesoft.
according to sar the system is barely used with respect to cpus since sar
only checks every 20 minutes.
The users complain that the system is slow when they run jobs, the jobs
only take 5 minutes or less but they think it should be faster.
Is there another way to monitor performance to give a better view of the
system, or is sar at 20 minute intervals ok?
I changed sar to 5 minute intervals but it wasnt much better.

the system is a sun 3800 with 4x750mhz cpus and 16gb ram on a fiber
attached SAN disks.
here is the sar output:

SunOS mysunserver 5.8 Generic_108528-23 sun4u 02/02/04
