How to script labeling of new disks to avoid manually using format?

I have about 60 new disks to add to a system but don't
want to have to go into the format utility to label
each one. Can this be scripted?

NOTE: The disks are going to be imported into Veritas
Volume Manager, where the slicing and dicing will
happen but the disks need labels.
