rebuilding E250 without losing external arrays

I have an E250 which is in a bad way. It is Solaris 7 and has an
external D1000 and an older external array. They were set up with
DiskSuite and have state database replicas on several drives, including
the internal drives.

I need to rebuild this machine from scratch with Solaris 8.

How can I do this without losing the data on the external arrays or the
information on the structure of the external arrays in the state
database replicas? I believe the root drive is mirrored, and I want to
repartitian it in the process of rebuilding the system.

TIA
