The permissions of the /etc/resolv.conf didn't allowed the postfix user
to read it (quite hard to resolv name).

Subject: Problem with postfix and solaris

Hi,

I posted this to the postfix mailing list too.

First of all, this mail server only works for internal traffic only.
This one cannot resolve public addresses, hostnames or MX.

As I try to forward mail to another server, the postfix daemon refuses
to resolve the name.

The problem is located in the transport file.
(domain.net is a fake name for my internal domain

This syntax works :
domain smtp:[1.2.3.4]

This one doesn't work
Domain smtp:[mailserver.mydomain]

The manual resolution works fine, but the syslog still shows : Name
service error for name=mailserver.mydomain type=A: host not found, try
again

Has anyone ever experienced this ??

Thanks

Nicolas figaro
