Thanks to everyone for the advice. What it looks like I have to do is:
Shrink the current file system (To make room for VxVM to put it's TOC)
Encapsulate the disk
Blammo, it's done.

That's really simplifying it, but it's great that I got the answers I needed.
Thanks again!

Subject: Solaris 8 disk slice 0 need to import into VxVM.

OK, this is a little confusing.
Due to a lack of understanding of VxVM, I created a VxFS filesystem on slice
0 of the logical disk on my Storedge 3510. I would like to now import this
slice into a disk group in VxVM so that I may grow the filesystem if
necessary and span it across multiple LUNS (I may soon need to add a drive to
my Logical Drive on the Storedge). Currently, my mount output looks like
this:

/ on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0
read/write/setuid/intr/largefiles/logging/onerror=panic/dev=800000 on Sun Dec
21 09:26:42 2003
/proc on /proc read/write/setuid/dev=4180000 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:41 2003
/dev/fd on fd read/write/setuid/dev=4240000 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:42 2003
/etc/mnttab on mnttab read/write/setuid/dev=4340000 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:43
2003
/var/run on swap read/write/setuid/dev=1 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:43 2003
/tmp on swap read/write/setuid/dev=2 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:48 2003
/export/home on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s6
read/write/setuid/intr/largefiles/logging/onerror=panic/dev=800006 on Sun Dec
21 09:26:48 2003
/mnt/storage on /dev/dsk/c2t40d0s0
read/write/setuid/mincache=direct/convosync=direct/delaylog/largefiles/ioerro
r=mwdisable/dev=800168 on Sun Dec 21 09:26:51 2003

I'd like to bring c2t40d0s0 into a disk group so that I can work with it.
c2t40d0 looks like this:

Total disk cylinders available: 35424 + 2 (reserved cylinders)

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  0 unassigned wm 0 - 35423 272.44GB (35424/0/0) 571353696
  1 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  2 backup wu 0 - 35423 272.44GB (35424/0/0) 571353696
  3 - wu 1 - 2 15.75MB (2/0/0) 32258
  4 - wu 3 - 35423 272.42GB (35421/0/0) 571305309
  5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
  7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0

So as it stands, I cannot span multiple LUNs with the filesystem on
c2t40d0s0, and I am not extremely knowledgeable with VxVM (Had to put this up
quick for a large Oracle conversion project). Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Matt
