Subject: user login error on CDE

Greetings,

When I login, I have got error messages as:

The DT messaging system could not be started

To correct the problems:
1. Choose [OK] to return to the logging screen
2. Select Failsafe Session from the login screen's option menu and login
3. Check to see that the host name is correct in these locations:
        /etc/src.sh
        /etc/hosts
        /usr/adm/inetd.sec
4. Check to see any magic cookie related error messages in these locations:
        /var/adm/messages
        $HOME/.dt/errorlog

I have searched web and tried to fix it as following:
1. One suggestion is it may be caused some system files unwritable:
   - during the time, what I only did is setup jumpstart server which share
-F on home directory, so I shutdown nfs server, unshared the home directory.
*** not useful****

2. it may be caused because /etc/mnttab is 444 and should changed to 644.
   - the file can not be changed with chmod 644.

3. it may be caused by some wrong configuration on DT at my home directory
   - remove all .dt directory restart it not useful. Root user has same
problem.

Could I get any help with this problem?

Any comments will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Julie Xu
