Hi,

I am having problems installing solaris 9 from CD onto a DELL 600SC. On
the hardware compatibility list this machine is reported to work. The
machine has an ADAPTEC 39160 scsi adapter with 2x34GB scsi disks.

All the compontents seem to be detected on install following the scan -
ie device names and model numbers are shown in the device listing. I can
see that the driver cadp160.bef is loaded during install process.

However, when it comes to the install, the boot default location is an
ide device(which doesn't exist)
/pci@0,0/pci-ide@e/ide@0/sd@0,0:a

Things I have tried:
*boot /pci@0,0/pci9005,f620@7/sd@0,0

which I found on the webpage
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/data/components/prtconf/216.txt

*use i option to go into interpreter mode, and reset bp to ''
*use i option to go into interpreter mode and set bp to
/pci@0,0/pci9005,f620@7/sd@0,0

However, it just says device not found and aborts the install. The
website shows to use f620@8, but my disks, in the scan, show that they
are at device 7, function 0 and 1 so I thought I should use 7 instead of
8.

Is there a way to overcome this problem?

Thanks, Gillian
