Swap space on cylinder 0

Hello Gurus:

I came across the install manual (Feb 2000) recently ( I had never read
Solaris 8 install manual ) that by default Solaris 8 puts swap on
Cylinder 0 for performance. and I have been doing custom installations
always so never stumbled upon this.

I was unable to think of any perfomance gains whatsoever we might have by
putting swap on cylinder 0 and I also hear that it continues to be
default for Solaris 9. Please help me understand what performance gains
will we have if we do this and if at all, how much will the gain be, 5%
or > 20%?

I will summarize.
