GUI slow response

Hi Gurus.
UI have a PC mounting( via NFS) a directory from the Unix box. When the program is executed it takes a long time for the GUI to come up. The NFS version on the Unix box is 3.0
No problems from the Unix end. Anybody had similar situation like this?. Help is appreciated.
