Correctly pointed out that the other procedure will give you a concat and
he offered the following as
stripe. I am trying it now.
It can all be done on-line with DiskSuite, just not as slick as Veritas.
Basically, what you do is this.
1. Detach one of mirror metadevices with metadetach.
2. Delete the detached metadevice with metaclear.
3. Configure your new, striped metadevice with metainit.
(metainit dxxx 1 2 cxtxdxs0 cxtxdxs0 - for a 2 column stripe.)
4. Attach the new larger,striped metadevice to the mirror with metattach.
5. Wait for things to sync up.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the other mirror metadevice.
7. Run growfs on the top level metadevice.
Depending on the version of DiskSuite you're running you may need to do a
metattach on the to level mirror to pick up the new size after step 6.

Indeed it can be done and Alfredo's solution is what I did and it worked.
I also want to thank Tobias Koch who pointed to -M option in growfs.
