Running Solaris 9 on a U-60, I see the following: at some seemingly random
interval following boot, I get no network traffic in our out. ifconfig
report looks normal, ethernet router shows carrier, inetd and sshd are
working. After still more time elapses, you can't get a dtsession at the
console. $HOME/.dt/errorlog says "can't start message server."
This has occurred
(1) with another 2x300MHz U-60
(2) with that one after swapping motherboards
(3) with the present 1x450 MHz U-60
(4) with unpatched OS
(5) with latest patch cluster applied
(6) with the 32-bit kernel running
(7) with the 64-bit kernel running
Is anyone out there running Solaris 9 on an UltraSPARC 60? I hate to take a
whole day to load Solaris 8 and add all my security features.
B.t.w., my machines are all behind NAT devices - defaultrouter for the U-60
is 192.168.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0 but NAT device's netmask is
255.255.255.192
