Failover

Hello everyone,
We have a Sun E450 running SunOS 5.7 and Oracle 8.1.7. We want to
make a carbon copy of this system and use it as a slave in a failover setup.
The general description of what we want to do is this. Put a new NIC inside
our existing E450 and the new E450. Have the Oracle installation on the
existing system replicate over to the new E450 (How this is done is outside
of my scope, but not for this list) over the secondary NIC we added in (We'll
call this hme1). At the same time, the primary interface on the new E450 will
be unplumbed. Since this is a direct connect between the hme1's on both
systems, when system 1 goes down, system 2 will notice a cable disconnect. On
this cable disconnect, I want to plumb up the hme0 interface on system 2 with
the same IP and hostname as the hme0 interface on system 1. Thus we have,
poor man's failover. This project is in a crunch, otherwise I wouldn't have
put this on the list, but if anybody has had experience doing something like
this and has any pointers, or any assistance of any kind, it'd be must
appreciated. I'll summarize all my answers to the list. Thanks!
