Hi All
I am trying to upgrade 3 Sparcserver Licence Servers to Ultra 2's. All
my Licences are bound to the Hostid's on the Sparcservers. I have asked
SUN to burn me new NVRAM chips with the old hostid's for my Ultra2's, so
I don't have get every licence changed (many of the companies no longer
exist).
After 5 months of Promises, SUN have told me it wont be possible as
"format of the Hostid is different for server types, so the hostid for
a Sparc Server 10 will always start with 72 and the hostid for an Ultra
2 will always start with 80. Hence we are unable to blow a chip for an
Ultra 2 with the hostid for an Sparc Server. "
Does anyone Know of a way we can fake a hostid? to save us a lot of
trouble!
