Solaris 8 cp + "bad address"

Dear Managers,

I just saw this on Solaris 8 for the first time in and would like your
input on the same.

One of our users just ran a copy command (cp OriginalFilename
DestinationFilename) on a file and got

cp: OriginalFilename : Bad address

I looked at the output of "dmesg" on the users machine and there is
nuthing in there to suggest that either the filesystem is full or
reacheable or out of inodes etc.

The filesystem that he is trying to write to sits on a NetApp F810 running
Data Ontap(if it matters).

There is some traffic on comp.unix.programmer on the use of "mmap" and how
it gives misleading error messages like "bad address"

can someone shed some light on solaris 8 "cp and mmap" ?

Thanks,
