Hi All ,

 I am trying to get ssh working on my E5000 box with Solaris 8 . patch 112438-02 is required to provide /dev/random support . When I try to install the patch ,it comes out with the foll error :

pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete
Package not patched:
PKG=SUNWcarx.u
Original package not installed.
Package not patched:
PKG=SUNWmdbx
Original package not installed.
This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and
version of a package which is already installed. This installation
will attempt to overwrite this package.
/var/tmp/patch/112438-02/SUNWcsr/install/checkinstall: /var/tmp/patch/112438-02/
SUNWcsr/install/checkinstall: cannot open
 successfully
Dryrun complete.
No changes were made to the system.

Now , I do not have any 64 bit packages installed on the system and even
"isainfo -v" and "isainfo -kv" shows
-> isainfo -v
32-bit sparc applications
-> isainfo -kv
32-bit sparc kernel modules

Does this mean tht the /dev/random functionality in Solaris 8 works only with 64 bit kernel/apps ? What do I do for the installation of the patch and resulting /dev/random functionality. This is a production box and downtimes are frowned upon ...

PS :As an aside ...what is the general opionion abt using the freeware soln ANDIRAND on the prod box ??

Thanks & Regards and I'll summarize
