A1000/RM6 refuses to create new LUN

Hello:

I have an E420R/Solaris 8 hooked to an A1000 disk array.

Originally I had only 5 18Gb disks in the A1000 due to budgeting issues.
I created LUN 0 / Drive Group 1 over 4 of the 5 disks, and left 1 disk for a
hot spare.

Now I have filled the remaining 7 disks to take the A1000 to 12x18Gb.

Unfortunately RaidManager 6 does not permit the growing of LUNS. So I want
to make a new LUN / Drive Group out of the new disks.

I select the unassigned disks and choose the create LUN option. RM6 permits
this. It allows me to select the available disks, and it appears to start
to create the LUN. (LUN 1, Raid 5, 103408Mb)

Then it comes back and says that it failed to create the LUN for one of the
following reasons:

Failed to create the following LUNS on Module_001:LUN 1

1 Another host has created LUNS or hot spares on the module using the same
drives or LUN numbers.
2 A LUN or group is being modified
3 A failure has occured along the connection.

Of course this is all rubbish.

1. This is the only host connected. The other LUN is LUN0 on the other 5
drives.
2. I am the only one logged into the box, and therefore no other LUN
changes are happening
3. The other LUN is operating fine. There are no warnings in the Recovery
Guru.

On the console I see this error:

  No disks found!

Even though I have 7 shiny new disks I want to use.

So has anyone seen this before or can someone point me in the right
direction to a solution?

Thanks
Bryan Guest
