change nsswitch.conf order for one application

Hi Sunmanagers,

in nsswitch.conf we can find the order for name services to use.
Now we need to change this order for one application only. Is
this possible?

I tried to play with LD_PRELOAD:

# LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/nss_dns.so.1 telnet <host only in files>
Trying xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx...

but without luck.

Any help appreciated.
