compile stunnel problem

Hi all,
I know someone has post this message before, but none of the solution
works for me.
I am trying to compile stunnel-3.26 on a solaris 8 box using gcc-3.0,
openssl-0.9.7b. I got error:
checking size of unsigned char... configure: error: cannot computing
sizeof (usinged char), 77
I have tried compile use:
    *configure without tcp-wrappers $ ./configure --without-tcp-wrappers
    *configure with tcp-wrappers to yes.
         $ ./configure --with-tcp-wrappers=yes
    *configure with ssl lib
         $ ./configure --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl
    * Add "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/usr/local/ssl/lib" in the
    first line of configure script
But none of it works. Any other suggestion?
