I was able to study and pass the Solaris Certified Systems
Administrator exam with little problem, because I work with Solaris
on a daily basis, and there are quite a few study guides available for
people who want to learn the Operating System. (I recommend
the Syngress Media book ISBN 0-07-212369-9, by the by. It's a
great real world guide; it's not just an exam guide.)
For the record, I am not an opportunist. I am not interested in
memorizing Brain dumps to pass the Sun Network Administrator
certification. However, I have been searching *high* and *low* for
a descent study guide for the Sun Network Administrator exam
(exam 310-042 for Solaris 7 and/or exam 310-043 for Solaris 8)
to no avail.
Can anyone on this list please recommend some good Solaris-
specific reading material on Network Administration to me? I
know, of course, that Sun offers $2800 instructor-led training
(SA-389) for the certification, that it sells $750 CDROM-based
CBTs (JT-SA389), and $600 Web-Based CBTs (WSB-389-180),
but I am hoping to find a low budget ($100) hard copy book or
ebook. I believe I can become a qualified network administrator
through self study and my experience as a Solaris administrator
at work.
Your assistance and guidance are appreciated!
P.S. If you have already taken the class at Sun and are willing to
sell your book; or if you have purchased Sun's CDROM
material on TCP/IP Network Adminstration and are willing
to part with it now, please let me know your price.
P.P.S. I've already tried eBay / Amazon.com / etc. Lots of stuff for
Sun System Administration, but no quality material on Network
Administration that I've seen.
