Hello all,

server: v240 ("enchilada"), not connected to LAN
installed dual channel SCSI card,
dvd rom,
two disks

we tried to install solaris 9 8/03 from DVD (tried from CD too), with
this data:

hostname: xxx
ip address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
netmask: 255.255.255.0
primary network: bge0
ipv6: no
kerberos: no
time zone: Europe/Zagreb
default route: none
name service: none

the install script reports:

"An error has occurred in configuring the system. Please go back and
check your settings". We double checked everything, the same.

We even succeeded to find some install log (system is not installed,
used ctrl-c to end install script and prompt appears) in /tmp, and there
it says:

run Cmd error in /usr/bin/sysidput with output: unable to run cmd:
/usr/bin/sysidput

when executed by hand, this script collects same data as we entered, but
exits with error ("Syntax error in line..."). The file itself is there,
but it is binary file.

I tried to search FINs, FCOs, SunAlerts, Release Notes, Infodocs and at
last Google, but nothing.

Because we tried to install from both DVD and CD, it shouldn't be
media-related error.

Anybody?

Thanks,

Milan Matesin
