Having a problem applying the patch 109147-25 to a V280, Solaris 8, kernel
revision 22.
Downloaded it okay, but, when we come to add it the following messages
appear...

#patchadd 109147-25

Checking installed patches...
Verifying sufficient filesystem capacity (dry run method)...

Patch 109147-25 failed to install due to a failure produced by pkgadd.

See /var/sadm/patch/109147-25/log for details

Patchadd is terminating.

So looking at the log...

#more log

This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and
version of a package which is already installed. This installation
will attempt to overwrite this package.

/var/Patches/109147-25/SUNWarc/install/checkinstall:
/var/Patches/109147-25/SUNWarc/install/checkinstall: cannot open
pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully
Dryrun complete.
No changes were made to the system.

There is plenty og room in /var (500MB), the file it is complaining about
DOES exist, we are completely at a loss to what it is complaining about.

The README has no special instructions included so it should be very
straight forward. I've installed plent of patches in my time and never had
a problem.

I have had a look on Sunsolve but couldn't find anything.

The only thing I can think of is that version 24 of the patch is installed -
but it should be able to handle that...shouldn't it!!! Or do I need to
remove that first???

Many thanks in advance (I'll post the summary once sorted)...

Anthony
