Network printer problem

Dear Sun Managers,

I've an E10K with Solaris 8 running SAP R/3 4.6C
application on this system.

I have HP network printers (HP Laserjet 2200dn)
connected to our remote stations on 64Kb lease lines
and various Epson Dot Matrix Printers connected on HP
Jetdirect Print Servers. For the laser printer when I
define it using the Jetadmin s/w, we just use the
generic model script and for the Dot matrix printers
we
use dumpplot for printers.

Now, I've problem for printing. When I submitted a job
(around 700 pages) via the application SAP s/w,
somehow
these printers did not work well. It seems to keep
reprinting the same queue. Sometimes it will print
halfway and then restart printing from page 1 again.
This happens for both printers.

The SAP just issues an lp -d<output device> for
printing.

Attached here is an example of a mail from the Line
Printer Admin. each this happens. Pls advise what
would be the problem.

The printer <printername> has stopped printing for the
reason given below. Fix the problem
and bring the printer back on line. Printing has
stopped, but will be restarted in a few
minutes; issue an enable command if you want to
restart sooner. Unless someone issues a
change request

        lp -i <printername-id> -P ...

to change the page list to print, the current request
will be reprinted from the beginning.
The reason(s) it stopped (multiple reasons indicate
repeated attempts):

exec exit fault

I found out that the above error messages is exactly
the same from one portion of the lpadmin man page...

Would appreciate if someone out there can throw some
light on this issue. This problem has been pending for
weeks and I can't really think of a way.

What would be the problem :(

Is it a SAP problem, network problem, printer problem?
How to isolate and narrow the possible causes?

Hope to get response from you guru.

Thank you.

Regards,
Andrew
