Slow NFS Performance: Linux Server with SPARC Client

I have a Solaris 8 NFS client of a RedHat 9 file server. There are
several exported file systems from the server and all but one work
without any problems. All are ext3 file systems. Two of them are user
files the third is the mail spool. The only one I'm have problems
with is the exported mail spool.

Programs access this NFS mounted file system (Mail, pine, etc.) and
they just seem to take forever to read the spool. As I said, other
file systems work just fine.

I searched the archives and found SUMMARY message from
don_schultz@panvera.com where he suggested his problem was solved by
changing the mount options. He indicated that by adding the following
options: "retry=3,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,vers=3" to the /etc/vfstab for
his NFS mounted file systems that fixed his problem.

I've tried this and unfortunately it didn't work for me.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem when using
Linux as a NFS file server and a Solaris client.

Thanks!
