Hello managers, Hope you can help me again.

( I know I have some summaries pending but the problems still exists,
and at the time I'm unable the solve them)

We have the remote administration of several SMTP server running on
solaris ( 7 and 8 ), some of them uses sendmail-8.11 and others qmail,
no problem there, now for restrict the relay issue we use in boh smtp
kind of servers the smpt-auth feature , right ? so far so good.

Now the viruses are more common every day, so some of customers adquire
antivirus software that deal with it, like interscan and symantec
antivirus for smtp gateways

now we do the following, The request to send a mail arrives to the
smtp-server (sendmail or qmail), it authenticates and gives
authorizatiojn for relaying, ok ?

now if we use the AV SW, the request comes to the AV SW (which has its
own SMTP server) it scan it , if the scanning passes the mail passes to
the other SMTP server which will delivery the mail, ok?

the problem is that the authentication doesnt take place, because the
smtp that is contacted undet the port 25 is the Antivirus SMTP server ,
and those request are not redirected to the other smtp server.
We want to continue use both qmail and sendmail because its already very
intergrated to some funcionality in our servers, but we must
authenticate to prevent open relay.

Any input is welcome !
