Postfix, imap and virtual domains on Solaris8

Dear managers,

I am desparately trying to setup a small ISP server. I managed to setup
virtual domains in postfix by reading the corresponding readme file.
Mail for <username>@<domainname>.com is stored in the file

        /var/mail/vhosts/<domainname>/ <username>

So far so good. Now I need an imap and a pop server that allows to
access this mail file although there is no system user <username> in
/etc/passwd. I am sucessfully using UW imap for local accounts and
looked through the documentation but found no hint on how to configure
the authentication mechanism for non local accounts.

It was recommended to try Courier IMAP but I wasn't able to build it on
Solaris 8 even after installing db library. I always get

make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/share/src/courier-imap-2.1.2/tcpd'
Compiling tlspasswordcache.c
tlspasswordcache.c:9:25: openssl/ssl.h: No such file or directory
tlspasswordcache.c:10:25: openssl/err.h: No such file or directory
tlspasswordcache.c:11:26: openssl/rand.h: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [tlspasswordcache.o] Error 1

I gave up this approach and am back at UW IMAP. Any hints how to setup
authentication for virtual domain users are greatly appreciated. Thanks
a lot in advance!

Regards,

    Andreas
