SDS meta commands cause server to panic

Dear Sun Managers,

We have an old HA system, which includes Ultra 2
servers and SSA model 114 disk units. We are
running Solaris 2.5.1, SDS 4.2, and HA 1.3.

It is old, but until this weekend, has been running
fine.

Now for unknown reasons, we are unable to take control
of the diskset. We have stopped HA.

The metastat -s <diskset> command will cause the
server to panic and core dump.

Other meta commands report "not owner of diskset".
This includes the metaset -s <diskset> -r command,
which was run on both servers.

The metaset -s <diskset> -t, when run from either server,
will cause a panic and reboot.

A review of the /var/adm/message file after reboot
shows this message:

Bad Trap ... metaset alignment error ....

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance,
Jim T.
