NOTICE: alloc: /var: file system full

Hi,

I saw this question posted in this group before, but
it had no concluding summary. Maybe now someone can
answer.

I have this in my /var/adm/messages:
NOTICE: alloc: /var: file system full

But a df -k answers the following:
  /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 493688 302539 141781 69%
/var

Why it happens? This machine is a Oracle server. Is
Oracle trying to write something in /var/tmp ?

 Thanks.
