added latest 2.8 recommended cluster on top of my base 10/01 build and now
works fine.

ypinit -c
and get cant get local hosts domain name, check you path.
I have an /etc/defaultdomain set as foo.bar above.
I have the nis server in /etc/hosts
I have edited my /etc/nsswitch.conf
And still problems - any clues ?
