Hi Sungurus,
I am running Solaris 2.7 as NIS master and want to
upgrade to 2.8,
below is the steps i am doing, pls suggest if i am
missing anything,
1) install solaris 2.8 in a new disk on a diff system
with same model, having diff name and ipaddress.
2) tar the /var/yp and /etc/nis(ascii text maps) and
copy to the new system.
3) copy /.bashrc and /.profile to the new server
4) copy /etc/nsswith.conf to the newserver.

5) disconnect the network cable of the nis (2.7)
master
and run sys-unconfig on the new server and config as
the same ip address and hostname as the old master.

6) untar the /var/yp and /etc/nis tar files in to the
2.8(new) system
7) run ypinit -m to update the nisdatabase.
and check if the modifications are pushed to the slave
servers and the clients are getting the latest maps.

Pls let me know if i miss something here....
Thanks,
Rgs
Sunny.
