Hi,

Is it safe to use Solaris devices nodes in /etc/vfstab instead of standards
links (/dev/dsk/...).
For instance :

/devices/pci@6,4000/pci@3/SUNW,isptwo@4/sd@2,0:a
/devices/pci@6,4000/pci@3/SUNW,isptwo@4/sd@2,0:a,raw / ufs 1
no -

I wonder if some scripts in /etc/rcS.d would relies on the device name being
of the form "/dev/dsk/...".

The reason is :
On my Solaris 2.6 server, I have a Solaris 8 image on a disk which comes
from another host from which I want to boot, and I'm not sure which
controler number will be assigned to this new boot disk in /etc/path_to_inst
during the reconfiguration reboot.

If I put /dev/dsk/c4t2d0s0 (which is the current disk address under 2.6) in
/etc/vfstab, there is a risk that the boot disk is linked to
/dev/dsk/c3t2d0s0, for instance, hence the R/W root remount will fail.
Using native device node, I'm sure it will not change.

Did anybody test this or have any workaround ?
