I created several (8) soft partitions with disksuite
and was able to create a filesystem on all but
/dev/md/dsk/d104. Here is the error:

bash-2.03# newfs -v /dev/md/dsk/d104
newfs: construct a new file system /dev/md/rdsk/d104:
(y/n)? y
mkfs -F ufs /dev/md/rdsk/d104 86016 424 24 8192 1024

Warning: inode blocks/cyl group (328) >= data blocks

cylinder group. This implies 4608 sector(s) cannot
be allocated.
/dev/md/rdsk/d104: 81408 sectors in 8 cylinders
of 24 tracks, 424 sectors

19008 i/g)
super-block backups (for fsck -F ufs -o b=#) at:
 32,

Here is some information on d104:
d104: Soft Partition
    Component: d2
    State: Okay
    Size: 86016 blocks
        Extent Start Block
Block count
             0 105738245
    86016

What the heck is going on here? I saw the error in
the man page but that didnt do much for me in my situation.
