I'm setting up for the first time a 3310 StorEdge expansion unit JDOB
with 5 disks to be
connected to a StorEdge PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter
in a Sun Fire V120 server with Solaris 9. I want to do the simplest
configuration
and use the disks as just a bunch of disks.
It is not entirely clear from the documentation
how I should cable the expansion unit to the host. The host adaptor
has two SCSI
VHDCI connector ports.
The expansion unit has 4 ports:
upper left and right
lower left and right
According to documentation, I should be able to connect lower left to
upper right with
a SCSI cable and then connect the lower right to the host with another
SCSI cable.
The upper left should have automatic termination.
I've done this, but when I do a probe-scsi-all at the ok prompt, at step
13 in the host
adapter installation guide, I get a continuous
"bus error" message. Should the open port on the host adapter have a
terminator, or
should I configure the cables differently, or ....?
I installed the Ultra3 SCSI QUS drivers and added the 112706 patch.
