Update: Sparc AXI remote console logout problem

I got one responses that I have not yet looked into. Because these are
production systems I will need to set up a lab environment and test it out.
Here are the response that I got from David Glass:

Somehow the logout process is sending a break signal. This
often happens when power cycling a serial terminal while
still connected. Try this (Solaris):

Edit the file /etc/default/kbd. Uncomment the line:
#KEYBOARD_ABORT=alternate

Now either reboot or run the command:
kbd -i
to re-read the settings.

Now the console break signal will be changed to:
~ Ctrl-B

Adrian Phipps Response:
Is your server key in secure mode?

These systems are actually contained in Telecom equipment and there is no
server key. Only power cycling or telnet'ing into console or ethernet qfe0
to reboot.

Here is a little more detail on what happens when the system crashes:
I know when I said my system crashed, I should have said that I had no
response from the console (via terminal server) or ethernet. I tried to hit
any key, Control c & z & d, but no response. I even tried to issue
<control> + <]> (control key and the right bracket key) & issue "send break"
to get it to the ok prompt, but when I issued the <control> + <]> I did not
get the ">" prompt back. I had to have a site manager power cycle the
system to bring it back up. I left the console up and I could see the system
power back up.

I will try David's suggestion in a lab environment, because I cannot take a
chance with the production units. This may take a while because I need to
somehow create a terminal server and connect it to an AXI Sparc.

Thanks,
Bob

To all,

I am having a problem with a Sun Ultra Sparc AXI crashing when I type "exit"
to log out of the console. If I do not login and exit using ^}(control key
+ right bracket key), the system does not crash. The console is connected
via terminal server (Cisco router asynch ports) to the ttya port. We have
similar type setups for sparc 5 and ultra 1's but they do not crash when you
type "exit". There is a Y connector that connects to the AXI sparcs serial
port and splits out to an TTYA and TTYB connector. The sparc 5 and ultra 1
have separate TTYA and TTYB connections. We use TTYA for the console and
TTYB for gathering alarms.

If you login to the ethernet port and type logout the system does not crash.
It only crashes when logging into the console via terminal server and typing
"exit" to logoff. All the sparcs are running Solaris 2.6.

Has anyone run into this type of situation and found a work around.

Thank you,
Robert Abenoja
