metattach on Solaris 9

Managers,
We are attempting to JumpStart some Solaris 9 machines and are having
some issues with the mirroring aspect. We have been successfully
JumpStarting Solaris 8 machines with the same scripts for quite some time
but now we are having problems mirroring the root partition under Solaris 9.
All other partitions mirror without any problem but when our script attempts
to mirror root with metattach d0 d2, we get the following error.

metattach: psls2: d2: can't attach labeled submirror to an unlabeled mirror

I have found some information on the web referring to the fact that
attempting to attach a submirror partition that starts on cylinder 0 would
not work due to the fact that it would overwrite the VTOC for that disk.
However, I have been doing this under Solaris 8 for many months without any
problems. Is this an issue to Solaris 9 only or am I doing something wrong?

Output of partition table by format command

Current partition table (original):
Total disk cylinders available: 19156 + 2 (reserved cylinders)

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  0 root wm 2057 - 2571 1.00GB (515/0/0) 2101200
  1 swap wu 0 - 2056 4.00GB (2057/0/0) 8392560
  2 backup wm 0 - 19155 37.27GB (19156/0/0) 78156480
  3 usr wm 2572 - 4114 3.00GB (1543/0/0) 6295440
  4 var wm 4115 - 5143 2.00GB (1029/0/0) 4198320

  6 unassigned wm 6173 - 7201 2.00GB (1029/0/0) 4198320
  7 unassigned wm 7202 - 19155 23.26GB (11954/0/0) 48772320

Also, please notice that regardless of my profile setup, Solaris 9 lays out
the partitions with swap starting at cylinder 0 and root at 2057, instead of
vice versa. Is this also an issue with 9?

Thanks,

Allen
