Thanks for the replies

Couldn't remove it on the Filer as its a Network Appliance.
I had tried cat /dev/null > ddd previously and it had failed with no error.
I retried it again and it worked ??

I have found a 54GB log file
When I try to rm I get

root@cksnetma01 /extra/tmp> rm ddd
rm: ddd: No record locks available

/extra/tmp is mounted from a File Server

All I've found from Sun is "Try again later"
